Insider billbil-kun has revealed that Aaron Judge of the New York Yankees will be on the cover of the game. This was also the casi in MLB: The Show 18. It should also be noted that MLB: The Show 26 is scheduled for release on PS5 and Xbox Series on March 17, 2026. We don't know if there will be a Switch 2 version as of now.

Every self-respecting sports simulation game features one or more athletes from its discipline on its cover each year. This is the case for EA Sports FC, WWE 2K, NBA 2K, and MLB: The Show.
In this particular case, it is MLB: The Show 26 that interests us. San Diego Studio made a surprising announcement on social media. The 2026 edition “will not feature a new athlete on the cover.”
"We know that you are all just as excited as we are for the release of MLB The Show 26, so we wanted to let everyone know that this year we have decided that we will not have a new cover athlete."
Of course, internet users were quick to notice the strange tone of this announcement. The message in question seems to suggest that a former athlete could be returning or that there will be several athletes on the cover. The cover should not be empty, of course.
