Microsoft's stock price falls following massive investments in AI

Generative artificial intelligence is on almost everyone's lips. Many companies have embarked on a race against time to establish themselves in this already highly competitive field.

For several months now, Microsoft has been trying to catch up by investing heavily in the infrastructure of its AI-dedicated data centers. This is causing increasing concern among investors... In the first quarter of 2026, the American firm reached a record $35 billion in spending on artificial intelligence.

As a result, Microsoft's stock has lost 10% of its value in recent months. This decline has been ongoing since June 2025 and continues today. CEO Satya Nadella, President Brad Smith, and Chief Commercial Officer Judson Althoff have also sold off several million dollars worth of shares. However, the multinational does not intend to change its strategy, as AI is now entrenched into all areas of the company.

Only time will tell if Satya Nadella has chosen the right strategy.
