According to recent rumors, Sony is expected to roll out PSSR 2.0 on the PS5 Pro between January and March 2026.
This major update to PSSR upscaling technology aims to significantly improve image quality and performance, drawing inspiration from advances in FSR 4 to offer finer rendering and higher frame rates, including for games already limited to 70-80 FPS.
PSSR 2.0 could also allow classic low-resolution games to be automatically displayed in higher resolution, and would include new debugging tools for developers. Nothing has been officially confirmed by Sony yet, but the launch window is considered likely.
