The mystery game at Xbox Developer_Direct is said to be from an Xbox studio, and Fable is reportedly in the works for PS5

The 2026 edition of Xbox Developer_Direct is shaping up to be exciting. Rumors are swirling about this event, which will be broadcast on January 22. In addition to Fable, Forza Horizon 6, and Beast of Reincarnation, Microsoft is expected to showcase a fourth game.

According to the Video Games Chronicle website, this will be a completely original title and “smaller in scale” than the other three. It is said to be developed by one of the Xbox Game Studios. Other rumors suggest that it could be a multiplayer project called Kiln, developed by Double Fine Productions (Psychonauts, Keeper).

In its article, VGC also mentions Fable. We learn that Playground Games' open-world RPG is currently in development for PS5. This could partly explain the delay in communication about the game. We don't know if Fable will be released at the same time on all platforms.
