The first trailer for Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown released to mixed reception

Ubisoft will have its work cut out convincing gamers of the quality of the new Prince of Persia. During Summer Game Fest, the French publisher presented the previously unknown The Lost Crown. The game goes for a 2.5D rendering with an old-fashioned side-scroller formula.

It's a mix that probably didn't go down well with fans, who have already decided that this new entry is going to be bad. On YouTube, the announcement video published by Ubisoft counts at the time of writing 4501 "like" mentions against 16,034 "dislike". A similar ratio can be observed on the channels of PlayStation, IGN and Gamespot. At Nintendo of America, the situation is slightly more positive, with 7701 "likes" and 6251 "dislikes".

Many Internet users criticized Ubisoft for "killing the Prince of Persia IP" and pointed fingers at the title's visual identity as fit for a mobile game.
