343 Industries is switching to the Unreal Engine for the upcoming Halo games

After losing at least 95 employees due to the numerous layoffs carried out by Microsoft, 343 Industries is looking toward the future. Several Halo Infinite multiplayer modes are reportedly almost finalized. On the other hand, Bloomberg reports that no DLC for the single-player campaign is planned. Additionally, the studio wants to abandon the Slipspace Engine. The engine is apparently too difficult to tame, and a switch to the famous Unreal Engine seems to have already been made last year. The engine from Epic Games is currently being used on a new multiplayer Halo game known under the code name Tatanka, with 343 Industries being assisted by Certain Affinity on the development of this project. Finally, other prototypes of Halo games under the Unreal Engine are also currently being designed.
