Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is the best launch for a third-party game in Game Pass this year

After shining at the Golden Joystick Awards 2025, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has achieved yet another success in 2025. This time, it's with Microsoft, specifically with Game Pass.

The title from Sandfall Interactive had the best launch on Xbox's subscription service in 2025 for a game developed by a third-party studio. The American manufacturer based its assessment on the number of unique users who tried the RPG during the first 30 days after its release.

Guillaume Broche, Creative Director at Sandfall Interactive, made a brief statement on the matter.

"This year has been so far beyond what any of us could have imagined, and it’s down to how passionate and supportive our fans have been to make that a reality. It’s really nerve-wracking to be a new studio releasing our first game, but the support of everyone has really made everything feel like a dream.

From being there to announce our game back in Summer 2024, to coming to the studio for the Developer_Direct video in January, Xbox helped us get the word out there and reach a lot of players."

Remember that Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is nominated for 12 awards at the 2025 Game Awards.
