Hades 2 is the highest-rated original game of 2025 (for now)

Supergiant Games will release version 1.0 of Hades 2 on Thursday, September 25, 2025. While this second installment had already impressed during its early access period, it now seems to have dazzled reviewers all around the world.

At the time of writing, Hades 2 has a Metacritic average of 94% on Switch 2 (32 reviews), 96% on PC (19 reviews), and 95% on Switch (4 reviews), which makes it the highest-rated original game of 2025, ahead of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 and Blue Prince. The Switch 2 versions of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom remain at the front with an average of 95%.

It remains to be seen whether Hades 2 will manage to hold onto this spot as more reviews come in.
