Nintendo only offers two alternatives in terms of Switch 2 cartridges

While the Switch 2 is an undeniable commercial success, it has also been accompanied by its fair share of controversy. One such example is the famous game key cards, which only contain a license to download the full game.
In a recent article published by Bloomberg, we learn that publishers and studios wishing to release their titles in physical form on the machine do not have many options. In fact, there are only options available currently.
Developers can choose between the very expensive 64 GB cards to store their games or the less expensive game cards, which are unpopular with gamers. One example is Daemon X Machina: Titanic Scion. Launched on a 64 GB card in the UK, the Switch 2 version accounts for 72% of physical sales. In Japan, where it is available on a game card, barely 40% of physical sales were made on the Nintendo console.
Game key cards seem to be genuinely unpopular and can have serious consequences for a game's commercial success.
