Dark Math Games has changed the name and genre of its first game

Dark Math Games is an English studio founded in 2024 and composed of around 20 people. Half of these developers previously worked on the Disco Elysium license at ZA/UM.

This new team said it was working on XXXNightshift, an investigative RPG that was poised to be a kind of spiritual sequel to Disco Elysium. This week, however, Dark Math Games announced several major changes to its project.

First, the game has been renamed Tangerine Antarctic. In addition, the isometric gameplay has been abandoned in favor of a more traditional third-person RPG. Timo Albert, the studio's founder, explained this change.

"Set at the World’s End ski village at Mount Hope, British Antartica, Tangerine Antarctic is the name of the in-game hotel, designed by renown Estonian architect Kaur Stőőr, where most of the games’ action takes place.

This is where you are stuck because of the blizzard and must solve the mysterious murders. And Tangerine Antarctic is one of the important characters of this true detective's RPG."
