Square Enix ventures into team-based shooting games with Foamstars

The Japanese publisher did have a surprise to reveal to us during the PlayStation Showcase... But unfortunately, it wasn't Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. Instead, Square Enix decided to dive into the ruthless arena of competitive shooting games.

In Foamstars*, players will battle in 4v4 team matches while dousing themselves in foam. A concept that brings to mind Splatoon and its paint battles. The focus here will be on accessibility for newcomers to the shooter genre. In addition to drenching opponents, the foam can also be used to cover the terrain and even create structures.
