The design of the Rubin CPX fuels rumors about a future RTX 6090

The NVIDIA Rubin CPX GPU was just announced at the AI Technology Conference and is already fueling speculation about its possible role in the future RTX 6090. Although it was posed as dedicated to AI, its die render reveals blocks specific to graphics rendering.

According to analysts, Rubin CPX could feature 16 GPCs, or 256 SMs, 256 ROPs, a 512-bit GDDR7 memory bus, and PCIe 6.0. In comparison, the RTX 5090's GB202 offers 192 SMs and 176 ROPs. A potential gaming derivative would reach around 25,000 CUDA cores, representing an estimated gain of 14%.

However, the image shared by NVIDIA is only a concept rendering, with no guarantee that it reflects a real GPU, as the Rubin CPX is not expected until the end of 2026.
