While it was scheduled for release this fall, Grand Theft Auto VI ended up being delayed until May 26, 2026. Such an announcement caused quite a stir and was also welcomed by several players in the gaming industry.
This was particularly true for Sucker Punch, the American studio that will release Ghost of Yōtei on October 2. In a recent interview, the game's creative director Nate Fox clearly stated that the delay of GTA VI was met with genuine joy by his teams. The interviewer asked, "When GTA VI was delayed, did everyone pop champagne at the studio?"
“We're all still hungover. A hangover that's lasted several months. It was a great day.”
So, Sucker Punch was clearly more than relieved by this announcement.
