AMD dismisses the idea of a Radeon NOW service and defends its Ryzen naming conventions
, by Quentin
During a roundtable discussion at IFA 2025, AMD has shed some light on two sensitive issues. First, the company confirmed that it is not working on a Radeon NOW-type cloud gaming service, preferring to leave this market to its partners such as Sony and Microsoft, whose offerings are already based on its APUs.
Second, AMD defended its naming scheme for Ryzen Z2 processors and the 200/300 mobile series, which has often been criticized for its lack of clarity. The same name can refer to Zen 2 to Zen 5 architectures and RDNA 2 to 3.5 GPUs.
AMD acknowledges that this can be confusing, but deflects criticism to Intel, which also markets several architectures in parallel.
Finally, on the GPU side, the brand is continuing its rebranding efforts, with the transition from Radeon PRO to Radeon AI PRO, and a new naming strategy expected for the next generation Radeon RX.
