IO interactive denies 007 First Light being a Hitman clone
, by Thibaut
The gameplay of 007 First Light presented this week has not convinced everyone. Some players see this title as a kind of copy of Hitman with a James Bond skin. But IO Interactive obviously disagrees with this observation.
During an interview with GamesRadar+, Theuns Smit, a producer at the studio, said that 007 First Light and Hitman are two very different games. He mentioned that many developers have joined the project since its announcement, which brings "a fresh perspective and new expertise" while leveraging the strengths of IO Interactive.
"If you look at Hitman, it is the way it is for a specific reason, because that's the gaming experience we want to create. With Bond, it's not exactly the same. It's not just a simple change of skin."
To design 007 First Light, Smit says he recruited "people who had experience in coding, implementation, adjustment, and balancing" This is presented as "a balancing act that involves making the game exciting, credible, and dangerous, while remaining accessible and fun for a wide audience".
Remember that the game is set for March 27, 2026, on PS5, Xbox Series, Switch 2, and PC.
