After the failure of MindsEye, IO Interactive could put an end to its game publishing label

MindsEye is undoubtedly one of the biggest disasters of the year. The title from Build A Rocket Boy was released in a deplorable state and did not achieve the commercial success expected by its publisher, IO Interactive Partners.
During an interview with IGN, Hakan Abrak, CEO of IO Interactive, reflected on the collaboration around MindsEye.
"We thought they had some great ideas and a great world in the background that they were building, and hopefully they'll get the opportunity to show more of that in the future. And we just wanted to help them distribute the game.
Well, that was definitely tough, right? The reception was harsh. It was a tough reception. It wasn't what they hoped for, and also what we didn't hope for at IOI Partners. They're working hard on turning that around to regain the trust of the gamers out there, and they have tons of potential and content they're working on. So hopefully they'll succeed with that in the future."
Unfortunately, this first bad experience in publishing could push IO Interactive to scale back in this area. The future of IOI Partners “remains to be seen,” according to Abrak. The Danish firm will publish its next game, 007 First Light, itself, which is expected on March 27, 2026.
