First there were rumors, and now it's official. Paramount has secured the rights to produce a Call of Duty feature film. The contract currently covers a single live-action movie.
Paramount CEO David Ellison explained that this project is “a dream come true” and that he is a fan of the franchise.
"Being entrusted by Activision and gamers around the world to bring this extraordinary story to the big screen is both an honor and a responsibility we do not take lightly. We approach this film with the same disciplined and uncompromising commitment to excellence that guided our work on Top Gun: Maverick, ensuring it meets the exceptionally high standards this franchise and its fans deserve."
"We are committed to delivering a cinematic experience that honors the legacy of this one-of-a-kind property."
For his part, Activision President Rob Kostic praised Paramount, calling the production company a "fantastic partner."
"The film will honor and expand upon what has made this franchise great, and we can't wait to get started. Our shared goal is simple: to create an unforgettable cinematic experience that our community loves and that excites and inspires new fans of the franchise."
