, by Thibaut
In August 2024, Hideaki Itsuno left Capcom after more than 30 years with the company. He was best known for his work as director on the Devil May Cry franchise. A few months later, he joined LightSpeed Studios Japan under the Tencent banner.
This Tuesday, we learned that a new studio has been established in Osaka, Japan. Tencent's goal is to expand its teams in the country in order to develop highly ambitious AAA games. Several new hires have also been made.
Narrative designer Toshihiro Nakagawa (Dragon's Dogma, Devil May Cry 3 and 5) has joined Itsuno. He did not come alone, as artist Daigo Ikeno (Devil May Cry, Street Fighter, Dragon's Dogma) is with him. Finally, illustrator Gouda Cheese (Street Fighter 2, Power Stone, Darkstalkers) has also joined LightSpeed.
Hideaki Itsuno stated that approximately one-third of the studio's 40 employees are former Capcom employees.
