For Sony, the number of GAAS is not important

Last weekend, Concord celebrated its sad first anniversary. After being released on August 23, 2024, the title shut down its servers on September 6, just two weeks later.
In a recent interview with the Financial Times, Hermen Hulst, head of PlayStation Studios, logically had to go back on the company's strategy regarding live-service games. From now on, the Japanese firm wants to focus on the variety of its catalog rather than its quantity.
"The number [of live service games] is not so important. What is important to me is having a diverse set of player experiences and a set of communities. We have since put in place much more rigorous and more frequent testing in very many different ways. The advantage of every failure is that people now understand how necessary that [oversight] is."
That's why PlayStation now goes through more extensive testing before releasnig a game. Of course, the goal is to avoid another Concord. Hulst also wants the dev teams to take risks.
"I don’t want teams to always play it safe, but I would like for us, when we fail, to fail early and cheaply."
