After laying off 80 devs, BioShock 4 is scheduled for early 2027

Despite being led by Rod Fergusson now, the BioShock IP is facing serious problems. The fourth installment is in development at Cloud Chamber, but the studio has just experienced a wave of layoffs.

In an article published on Bloomberg, journalist Jason Schreier reported that more than 80 people have been laid off within the company, which is about a third of the studio's workforce. BioShock 4 has been in production for over ten years and is going through a real hell.

In addition, the game's release date has been pushed back from late 2026 to early 2027. 2K Games president David Ismailer sent an email to employees.

"While we are excited about the fundamentals of the project, we have made the decision, along with studio leadership, to rework certain key aspects of this BioShock game, and in doing so, we are reducing the size of the development team to focus on those aspects and allow more time for game development."
