The new Resident Evil film will be edgy and weird

We'll have to wait until September 2026 to enjoy the new Resident Evil movie in theaters. This umpteenth adaptation of Capcom's IP will be directed by Zach Cregger.
The director once again explained his vision for the film during an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. Cregger specified that the story will not be linked to the other feature films in the franchise. Nor will it recount the epic adventures of the characters seen in the video games.
"That’s an original screenplay, by the way. It’s a weird story. I wrote it and I love the story. It has nothing to do with any of the other Resident Evil movies. If I do my job, it will feel fresh and edgy and weird."
According to rumors, the story follows an organ delivery man named Bryan who travels to Raccoon City in the middle of the night and ends up involved on an epidemic that causes mutations and gives rise to monsters.
