Bad news for BioShock fans awaiting some new details on the future of the series. One project has reportedly been canceled so far.
Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier reported that 2K Games put to rest a remake of the first BioShock earlier this year. We don't know why. That said, gamers are more interested in the fourth entry, which got announced back in 2019.
BioShock 4 has been in development for over 10 years now. Recently, the title reportedly failed a test by 2K, which apparently led to a change in direction and a complete story overhaul. In fact, there are employees concerned about layoffs following such a difficult period.
A spokesperson for 2K Games commented on the current status of BioShock 4.
"We are working hard to ensure the best possible future for BioShock. Right now, we have a good game, but we are determined to make it a great game. We are working closely with studio leadership to achieve this goal."
