Hideo Kojima thinks too many AAA games are too similar

After releasing Death Stranding 2: On the Beach last month, Hideo Kojima continues his media marathon. The Japanese creator gave an interview to the website SSENSE.

During the interview, Kojima gave his opinion on current AAA games. He said he was "disappointed" with the current state of the video game industry, and pointed out that "studios are closing left and right producing blockbusters that are too bloated and too expensive". He was also highly critical of the titles presented at Summer Game Fest 2025. He felt that every game "involved fighting an alien monster or medieval monsters."

Hideo Kojima went further, adding that the graphics and gameplay of these titles were practically identical. While he acknowledged that players like this, he believes it is "important to put something really new in there for the industry".
