The Resident Evil IP has sold over 174 million games

Since its inception back in 1996, the Resident Evil franchise has been a mainstay on every generation of consoles and on PC. Of course, it must be said that this license has managed to retain and expand its fan base over the years.
While we wait for the ninth entry, to be released on February 27, 2026, Capcom has announced that the Resident Evil IP has sold over 174 million units worldwide. This represents an increase of 4 million copies compared to March 31st of last year.
It is Capcom's most important intellectual property. The second is Monster Hunter with 122 million units.
