Tales of the Shire clearly falls short of expectations

The delays were not enough for Wētā Workshop to deliver a great game. Tales of the Shire: A Lord of the Rings Game got some rather disappointing reviews from the press.

Available on July 29 on PS5, Xbox Series, Switch, and PC, the title has reached an average Metacritic score of 61% on PC (17 reviews), 60% on Switch (7 reviews), and 54% on PS5 (6 reviews). On OpenCritic, the score is currently 65% (26 reviews).

What stands out from the reviews is that this uninspired experience ends up feeling boring. There are plenty of bugs and crashes, as well as some frame rate drops. However, there are a few activities such as cooking and gathering that seem to stand out from the rest.
