A Pokémon TCG Pocket artist has been accused of plagiarism
, by Thibaut
We're just a few hours away from the launch of the Wisdom of Sea and Sky expansion for Pokémon TCG Pocket. But before we get some new boosters on July 30, the mobile game has ended up at the heart of a controversy.
In fact, the design of the three-star Ho-oh card is said to be based on fanart dating from December 2021. Superimpositions have been made, and it has to be said that the resemblance is quite striking. Sie Nanahara, who is supposed to have designed the card for the game, and The Pokémon Company have yet to say anything on the matter.
It was on X that the artist lanjiujiu, responsible for the original artwork, made the remark. He then got calmer and said that the card's design was possibly fake. In any case, we'll soon find out.
