Sucker Punch drops stances for Ghost of Yōtei combat
, by Thibaut
With the change of era and the introduction of new weapons, Ghost of Yōtei has undergone some changes in terms of gameplay. During an interview with GamesRadar+, creative director Nate Fox mentioned the abandonment of a specific element.
The stances present in Ghost of Tsushima will not be in this sequel. They are replaced by additional weapons that "bring more than just a visual change". The aim is to bring "much more depth to the gameplay, creating a feeling of improvisation during confrontations".
Each weapon has a specific role. For example, the kusarigama will be used to confront groups of enemies, while the spear will literally hurl opponents into the air. What's more, Ghost of Yōtei introduces a disarming system. Atsu will be able to lose his weapon and grab an enemy's to take it away.
Finally, while firearms will prove "incredibly deadly" in certain situations, they won't be the most effective weapons in the game.
