NVIDIA is said to be working on a Blackwell B30 AI for the Chinese market

According to new rumors, NVIDIA is preparing to release a new AI chip called Blackwell B30 designed specifically for the Chinese market. This model would replace the H20, banned from export to China due to U.S. restrictions.

The B30 is said to offer around 25% less performance than the H20, notably due to the replacement of HBM memory with GDDR7 and certain reduced functionalities. Despite this, demand is expected to be strong, with Chinese players looking above all for affordable solutions.

Prices are said to be 40% lower than those of the H20, with power consumption reduced by 30%. Eight-card rack configurations would offer up to 1.2 TB/s bandwidth. The chip would therefore target small and medium-sized AI models and cloud providers wishing to offer computing power at lower cost.

NVIDIA plans to ship millions of units by the end of the year, while CEO Jensen Huang is in talks with the US government to obtain the necessary approvals.
