Nintendo is polling Japanese players on game key cards

Nintendo has unleashed hell with a controversy following the announcement and release of the Switch 2. The Japanese company has introduced a new format for third-party titles: game key cards.

As a reminder, these physical cartridges only contain a license that can then be used to download a game in its entirety. A method that has not necessarily been well received, since it could jeopardize the preservation of the titles concerned. Some users have also described this format as a kind of disguised digital copy.

Be that as it may, Nintendo has decided to survey its Japanese users to find out if they are aware of how game key cards work. The manufacturer is also asking participants whether they would prefer to buy one of these cards or a digital version directly from the eShop.

It remains to be seen if and how the results of the survey will be taken into account.
