Arkane Studios co-founder believes Game Pass is "increasingly damaging the industry"

Since its inception back in June 2017, Game Pass has since become the central point to Xbox strategy. While the service's reather cheap price won over gamers at first, this suscription model is coming under increasing criticism.

Rapahel Colantion, founder of Arkane Studios and current president of WolfEye Studios, has started a quite striking attack on Game Pass. In his message on X, the French designer made it really clear that Microsoft's service has become more and more damaging for the industry.

"I think Gamepass is an unsustainable model that has been increasingly damaging the industry for a decade, subsidized by MS’s “infinite money”, but at some point reality has to hit. I don’t think GP can co-exist with other models, they’ll either kill everyone else, or give up."

Michael Douse, publishing director at Larian Studios, has also criticized this model, which relies on supposedly unlimited money. He says the only benefit of Game Pass is that it allows small teams to produce their games thanks to Microsoft's funding.
