Back in August 2023, SEGA completed the acquisition of Rovio, the studio responsible for the Angry Birds IP. The deal was finalized at 706 million euros and now allows the two companies to join forces.
In an interview with The Game Business, SEGA president Shuji Utsumi announced that Rovio is helping to create a groundbreaking Sonic mobile game. That's all we know as of now.
SEGA is also allowing Rovio to use its licenses (including Sonic) to create new live-service games.
