Former Blizzard president is sad to see Xbox in its current state

After almost 20 years in various positions at Microsoft and then within the Xbox division, Mike Ybarra became President of Blizzard Entertainment in August 2021. A position he held for less than three years, until May 2024.

On social networks, Ybarra is often outspoken. So, once again, he didn't mince his words about the current state of Xbox. Indeed, the manufacturer is soon to lay off several hundred people and possibly close studios.

"Tough to see Xbox confused about who it is and what it should be. Some great people there still."

"They have to figure out what needs to change .... and fast. I'm a big fan and will always bleed green. Cheering the team on from the sidelines. Pick your lane and stick to it."

In response to an Internet user, Ybarra was very direct about the strategy Xbox should adopt.

"It's simple to me. Xbox should strive to be the world's largest publisher of entertainment content. Get rid of everything else and get focused. Do not be afraid to say what you are. Embrace the lane."
