Microsoft gives the go-ahead to Spartan Survivors, a Halo fangame
, by Thibaut
Though it was scheduled for release in late 2024, Spartan Survivors has only been available on PC for a few days. This fan-developed game is a roguelike / bullet heaven title akin to Vampire Survivors but based on the Halo universe.
Rather than sue the game's creators for intellectual property infringement (hello Nintendo), Microsoft and Halo Studios have decided to endorse the project, which will therefore remain accessible. To ensure the title's compliance, Microsoft has simply requested a small update to the legal disclaimer in the game's credits and on the online store pages.
For the time being, Spartan Survivors is only available on PC via itchio. It will then land on Steam and mobile next month, followed by Xbox later this summer.
