NVIDIA is said to be working on an RTX 5090 DD for the Chinese market

NVIDIA is reportedly preparing a high-end RTX 5090DD for the Chinese market. This model would complete the existing offer following the US restrictions blocking the export of GB202-250 GPUs to China.
Since the ban came into force, the RTX 5090D has become hard to find, often only via system integrators. The RTX 5090DD is the latest addition, although the naming logic remains unclear. The “D” suffix originally referred to the Year of the Dragon for the RTX 4090D, but this no longer seems to apply here.
According to leaker MEGAsizeGPU, the RTX 5090DD uses the GB202-240 GPU, another variation of the GB202 already seen on the RTX 5090 (GB202-300) and 5090D (GB202-250). It would be based on the same PG145 PCB and would carry the SKU 40, a reference design intended for AIB partners. It is unclear whether NVIDIA will offer a Founders Edition for this variant.
According to Kopite7kimi, the RTX 5090DD will be equipped with 24 GB of GDDR7 memory on a 384-bit bus. If confirmed, this would raise the question of using the name “5090” for a card with less memory than the standard model (32 GB), despite similar gaming performance.
