Sony is reportedly looking into buying Warner Bros.' gaming division
, by Thibaut
Warner Bros. Discovery is currently undergoing a major shake-up. The company will be split into two separate entities, and there are buyers positioning themselves for future acquisitions already.
According to SEScoops, Sony could make an offer to acquire the WBD Streaming and Studios subsidiary, which will have completed its separation from WBD Global Networks by the middle of next year. The Japanese brand would then acquire the HBO MAX streaming service, its franchises, and, most importantly, the company's video game assets.
The report states that Sony is only interested in this division if it is separated from Warner Bros.' cable networks, which have recently lost millions of viewers. Of course, the acquisition remains hypothetical for now, and other buyers could also come forward in the near future.
