Final Fantasy XVI may see its definition drop to 720p on Xbox Series X

At the Xbox Games Showcase on Sunday June 8, Square Enix shadowdropped the Xbox Series version of Final Fantasy XVI. Alas, the visual quality of the title falls far short to that of its PS5 counterpart.

The Digital Foundry YouTube channel has revealed that, in favor of graphics, the RPG displays at 1224p on Xbox Series X instead of 1440p on PS5. All at 30 frames per second, of course. Sony's console boasts sharper textures and better rendering of shadows and foliage.

In Performance mode, definition drops to 720p on Xbox Series X versus 1080p on PS5. However, Microsoft's console manages to maintain a constant framerate at 60 FPS, whereas the game suffers from some slowdowns on PS5.

As for the Xbox Series S version, it features a single 792p mode at 30 frames per second.
