AMD makes the Instinct MI350 official and announces the MI400 series for 2026

At the Advancing AI event, AMD announced its new data center chips: the Instinct MI350 and MI355X. Both are based on the same silicon, but the MI355X model boasts higher thermal and electrical characteristics.

Both GPUs are etched in 3 nm and total 185 billion transistors spread over 10 chiplets. The XCD computing units are manufactured using the TSMC N3P process, while the IOD uses N6. Based on CDNA4 architecture, this series packs 256 computing units (16,384 cores) and supports FP4 and FP6 formats for AI. It incorporates 288 GB of HBM3E memory with 8 TB/s bandwidth.

Power consumption reaches 1000 W for the MI350X and 1400 W for the MI355X. Availability is scheduled for the third quarter of 2025. AMD has also confirmed the arrival of the MI400 series in 2026. Those are based on CDNA-Next architecture, and offer up to 432 GB of HBM4 memory and bandwidth of up to 19.6 TB/s.
