Sony's next handheld will feature 16 GB for RAM and AI upscaling

According to KeplerL2, an often well-informed source on AMD architectures, Sony's next handheld console, potentially linked to the PlayStation 6, could feature technologies from the RDNA5 architecture.

The device would come with 16 GB of LPDDR5X memory, 4 MB of L2 cache and 16 MB of MALL cache, but only a third of the memory bandwidth of the PS5. This limitation would be compensated by better memory compression and more cache.

There would be no new generation of “Z3” chips from AMD for OEM handheld consoles until 2029. In the meantime, the only portable console with AI upscaling could be PlayStation's.
