Phil Spencer says Microsoft is getting closer and closer to Japanese studios
, by Thibaut
If there's one area in which Xbox has always lagged behind, it's Japanese games. But for some months now, the American manufacturer has been trying to catch up.
For example, Atlus has often appeared on the Microsoft stage to talk about its projects such as Persona 3 Reload, Metaphor: ReFantazio and, most recently, Persona 4 Revival. Square Enix also brought Final Fantasy XVI to the platform and will release Final Fantasy VII Remake on Xbox Series later this year.
In an interview for the official Xbox podcast, Phil Spencer, CEO of Microsoft Gaming, spoke of this relation with Japanese publishers and studios. He claims that the brand is gaining more trust from Japanese developers such as those mentioned above and even Capcom.
In particular, Spencer says he had the opportunity to see Resident Evil Requiem. He also says he treats Japanese games with a great deal of respect, both in their placement on Game Pass and in the Microsoft store.
