Valve releases the SteamOS 3.7 with Legion Go S support
, by Quentin
Valve has announced the release of SteamOS 3.7. The Legion Go S is the only third-party device with official support so far, although other portable consoles with AMD processors are partially compatible.
SteamOS could become a viable alternative to Windows for portable console manufacturers. However, use of the SteamOS name and logo requires a Valve license, the cost of which remains unknown.
Valve has also launched the SteamOS Compatible program, listing over 18,000 compatible games, mainly those already running on the Steam Deck. Compatibility does not, however, guarantee identical performance on all devices.
Collaborations are underway with other interested manufacturers, but none have yet been named.
