The days of the current PlayStation 5 already seem numbered. In a recent article, Insider Gaming listed the numerous projects currently in development at Sony Interactive Entertainment. These include new audio headsets, the famous cloud-gaming portable console Q Lite, and a customizable controller designed for gamers with disabilities. These products should be available by the end of the year.
In addition, the Japanese manufacturer is reportedly working on two new consoles. Firstly, a PS5 with a removable Blu-ray drive. This machine will retain the usual design of the console. The launch of this model could take place as early as September. Sony is reportedly planning to stop production of the current PlayStation 5 in the coming year.
Finally, a PS5 Pro is also reportedly in the works. Sony studios are expected to receive the first development kits in the next two months, while external partners will receive them before the end of the year. The console is not expected to be launched before the end of 2024.
