DOOM: The Dark Ages is off to a lukewarm start on Steam
, by Quentin
Despite an extensive marketing campaign, DOOM: The Dark Ages seems to be attracting fewer players than its predecessors. On Steam, the peak number of players recorded was 31,470, a far cry from the 44,271 for DOOM (2016) and the 104,891 for DOOM: Eternal.
The game's new features, such as piloting the mecha Atlan and chainsaw-shield wielding, represent a departure from the aerial gameplay of DOOM: Eternal. However, these additions don't seem to have convinced the majority of players.
It's important to note, however, that these figures do not take into account Xbox Game Pass players, where DOOM: The Dark Ages is included in the Ultimate subscription. Full data will be available once the Microsoft and Bethesda reports are published.
