EA is going to phase out teleworking
, by Thibaut
While it was all the rage during the COVID-19 pandemic, teleworking is beginning to fade away in the video game industry. So much so, that Electronic Arts has begun taking steps to end the practice.
From now on, all the publisher's employees who live within 50 km of their office must travel there to work at least three times a week. EA CEO Andrew Wilson explained the reasons behind this new policy.
According to him, working on site gives rise to "a kinetic energy that fuels creativity, innovation, and connection, often resulting in unexpected breakthroughs that lead to incredible experiences for our players". Any future recruitment for remote work will have to be validated by Wilson or President Laura Miele.
Electronic Arts may go one step further and abolish teleworking for good in the coming months.
