The GTA VI delay is causing some studios to panic

For those who have been living in a cave for the past few days, GTA VI will finally be released on May 26, 2026, and we also got a new trailer for it. While this delay has made some happy, others in the industry seem more worried.

In a recent article, Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier speaks very clearly of a wave of panic that has gripped certain developers who were planning to release their production in the spring of 2026.

"For other companies, the delay of Grand Theft Auto VI has caused panic. One developer working on a big multiplayer game told me he'd already pushed his release date from fall 2025 to spring 2026. This was mainly because the game needed more time, but also to get away from GTA VI."

Schreier also states that companies may choose to delay their own games, again with the aim of avoiding Rockstar Games' delay. Finally, the journalist adds that the launch of Grand Theft Auto VI in May 2026 "is not guaranteed" and that a further delay cannot necessarily be ruled out.
