PlayStation reiterates its desire to offer numerous games as a service in the coming years

For almost thirty years, Sony has mainly excelled in remarkable single-player and narrative experiences. And while the Japanese manufacturer does not want to abandon this market, it also wants to turn to games as a service. These are obviously titles that can only be played online and receive additional content over the months. A category that has hardly ever been represented in the Japanese company's catalog.
But this is about to change as Sony has recently invested in this area. As evidence, we can notably point out the acquisition of Bungie, Haven Studios, and Firewalk Studios. Companies specialized in these famous games as a service.
In an interview with GamesIndustry.biz, Hermen Hulst, the president of PlayStation Studios, reiterated his desire to launch 12 new games as a service by March 2026. Some will be released simultaneously on both PS5 and PC. Hulst promises that it will not be a matter of copying Destiny or Fortnite, but rather of offering varied experiences and high-quality titles.
