Nintendo threatens to block players' consoles in the event of unauthorized use

This week, Nintendo suddently updated its conditions of use. The Japanese manufacturer even sent an e-mail to all its users to inform them of the changes. And while these details may seem insignificant, they actually contain some very important information for every player.

It's no surprise to learn that Nintendo is doing everything in its power to prevent illegal copying and emulation of its games. That's why the company has decided to step up a gear. From now on, it will reserve the right to block a pirated game or even remotely prevent a console from operating. Nintendo accounts can also be locked if illicit activity is detected. Emulators, security bypassing and illegal game copying are all targeted by this measure.

Also, to ensure a "safe and family-friendly" environment on its platforms, Nintendo reserves the right to record the last three minutes of any chat, whether voice or video. Of course, users must give their consent beforehand. Moreover, the recording will be stored privately and consulted only in the context of a report made to Nintendo.

In any case, with the release of Switch 2, the Japanese multinational will have even greater control over the actions of its users.
