A former Rockstar Games developer confirms that GTA VI production began in 2018

The whole world (or most of it) is eagerly awaiting Grand Theft Auto VI, which is now scheduled to launch on May 26, 2026. This week's trailer was a sight to behold, as were the many images shared by Rockstar Games.

A former employee of the starry company also shared his analysis. David O'Reilly served as Environment Artist at Rockstar from March 2011 to June 2023. In his video, O'Reilly states that he worked on GTA VI from 2018 to 2023.

So, by the time it's released on PS5 and Xbox Series, Grand Theft Auto VI will have around eight years of development under its belt.
