The Louvre says goodbye to its 3DS guided tour in September

Back in spring 2012, the Paris-based Musée du Louvre welcomed the New Nintendo 3DS to let visitors enjoy a more immersive guided tour. Renting a console costs €6.

Once the machine is in our hands, we have access to an app specially developed by Nintendo and overseen by Shigeru Miyamoto himself that offers 30 hours of audio commentary, images and 3D models to enhance the visit. There's even a geolocated map to help you find your way around this iconic site.

Alas, all good things must come to an end, and there's a new system coming in September 2025. The 3DS application will cease to function at that time, and consoles will no longer be offered at the entrance. We have no further information about the new tool, which will arrive at the Louvre at the end of the year.
