Raw Fury says Oblivion's shadowdrop did a lot of damage to his game Post Trauma
, by Thibaut
Post Trauma is a horror and puzzle game based on the great classics of the genre released during the PS2 era. Launched on April 22, Raw Fury's title was totally overshadowed by the arrival of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered.
The studio's founder was quick to point out the detrimental effects of such a shadowdrop for independent developers.
"I loved (when I was younger) and still love Oblivion, and I'm personally excited to see it get a new lease of life and be introduced to a whole new generation of gamers."
"From the point of view of indies and indie publishers, that's the problem with these kinds of shadowdrops. Everything is more or less buried. We don't have the money or the means to get started, so everything is carefully planned. Including the timing of the release, in relation to other releases, etc., to try and maximize the chances of attracting attention."
Raw Fury has taken it in stride, announcing the re-release of Post Trauma on June 23. The game will of course remain available for purchase, as the re-release day will simply serve as a celebration to put the title in the spotlight, away from the big releases.
