Ubisoft is reportedly working on a new battle royale inspired by Apex Legends

Who remembers Hyper Scape? This battle royale by Ubisoft Montreal came out back in August 2020 and only lasted until April 2022 before its servers were shut down.

Nevertheless, the French publisher still seems intent on carving out a place for itself in the small world of battle royale. Insider Gaming reports this week that Ubisoft is once again at work on the genre, and that it would be in the vein of Apex Legends and codenamed "Scout".

The project has been in development for at least two years, and its characters are said to be similar to those of Apex. The aim would be to capitalize on the decline in attendance recorded by EA's battle royale in recent years. A source close to Ubisoft was quick to mention this aspect.

"I think the goal is to capitalize on the player count of Apex dropping and them [Ubisoft higher-ups] thinking there’s room in the market for another hero Battle Royale."

The publisher could soon announce this project.
